  • As a part of the Guest Service department, dispatchers are the tour orchestrators of the Columbia Icefield attraction
  • Dispatchers are responsible for ensuring customers’ needs are met through proper and efficient utilization of equipment and drivers
  • Adapt and respond to changes, cancellations and unforeseen circumstances, all while, monitoring personnel and equipment locations 
  • Daily dispatching of tours, reacting to unforeseen changes and management of sales inventory
  • Creating future Columbia Icefield dispatch, troubleshooting and resolving scheduling issues
  • Communication and tour orchestration with onsite Group Sales Agents
  • Maintaining vehicle tracking reports and communicating issues to management
  • Adjust daily dispatch to ensure efficiency and balance across drivers and equipment
  • Using radio transmission to communicate with all Columbia Icefield business areas
  • Forecasting of equipment and group business, flagging issues with management


The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities: 

  • Organization and time management skills are a must, but a passion for making a difference for each guest and employee is the most important aspect of this position!
  • Excited by the idea of living and working in a remote (yet very social) environment
  • Fluent and articulate in English, able to communicate and comprehend over two-way radio required
  • Administrative skills including intermediate to advanced use of Microsoft Excel required
  • Experience using RTP POS Software, an asset
  • Proven strength in problem solving, attention to detail and ability to make decisions
  • React quickly and efficiently, with flexibility in mind
  • Able to handle high stress situations calmly and logically
  • Guest service-oriented mindset and an ability to work in a team environment
  • Must enjoy working outdoors, even in challenging mountain weather conditions
  • Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods of time in both an indoor and outdoor environment
  • Pepared for all weather conditions (snow, rain, wind, hail)
  • Meet the grooming and appearance standards
  • To honour our commitment to be “Always Honest” all employees must consent to a criminal record check
  • Standard First-Aid or higher an asset

Work Environment

  • Contract dates April 6th to October 21st, 2018
  • Typically 5 days on/2 days off
  • 4 days on/3 days off during peak periods
  • Split shifts as per schedule
  • Days off may change with each schedule and depend on business level
  • Long weekends may incur schedule changes
  • Expect 35 – 44 hours per week depending on business levels
  • Polo shirts, North Face pants and indoor jacket will be issued on arrival
  • Outdoor uniform is provided when working outdoors
  • Eligible for a retention and performance bonus
